Jewelry Care Guide
Instructions on how to make your treasures last a life-time. Take proper care of you beloved jewelry. Keeping them dry & stored in an airtight jewelry box or bag when not in use, will preserve the life & lustre of the metal. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairsprays & other chemicals.
Brass
Brass is a mix of copper & zinc. With time brass is aging beautifully & getting a darker antique color. Some people like the patina & some prefer the shiny golden look.
Easy, quick & efficient cleaning. Select one of these three techniques.
1. Clean with a dry micro fiber cloth. Perfect for light tarnish.
2. Clean with warm water (not hot) & mild dish detergent. This is ideal to remove light tarnishing, dirt & grime build up. Let the jewelry sit in the solution for a few minutes, if it's very dirty you can leave it longer. Then gently scrub with a soft clean toothbrush.
3. Make a mix with lemon+warm water (not hot). Soak the piece in the lemon water for minimum 15 minutes. If the jewel has a gemstone I recommend that you dip a cloth in the lemon water & gently buff the brass instead, avoid contact with the gemstone.
For 2 & 3: Once you are satisfied with the result, rinse the jewel thoroughly. Be sure to dry the metal well afterward, to avoid water stains. Clean with a microfibre cloth.
Sterling Silver
925 Sterling silver is a precious metal. It is 92,5% silver. Sterling Silver will tarnish with time. Sterling silver jewellery can be cleaned very easily with a microfiber silver cloth, but be sure to avoid contact with any stones.
Some of my designs are oxidised, to make the details pop more & give depth to the design.
Gold Vermeil
Gold vermeil is a 2.5 micron overlay of 18karat gold on a base of 925 sterling silver. Buff gently with a soft, dry cotton cloth or microfibre cloth. Never use a silver cloth or chemical cleaners on 18k gold vermeil jewelry as it can peel off the gold finish.
If the gold peels off you can go to a jeweller to refresh & replate your beloved piece.
Gemstones
Clean your gemstones with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid drastic temperature changes. Do not use jewelry cleaning chemicals on gemstones. Handle with care! Crystals & minerals can be very fragile. Gentleness is key.
